See no evil

Adrian and I have become "those people." We admit it. We announce ourselves to the world. We post it on our blog for all to read: we can't watch violent movies anymore.

Last week, Blood Diamond spent 20 minutes in the DVD before I banished it back to Netflix. Last night, we watched Apocolypto until the guy rips the baby from the mom's arms and swings it around by its ankle (to its demise)...we looked at each other in utter horror and hit the eject button. And, man, I really wanted to see that movie.

We ended up watching a Harry Potter movie. It was that or Shrek. Our psyches couldn't handle anything more serious. When you have a child in your life, things change.

Oh dang it....I really wanted to watch Blood Diamond! You've ruined it for me. You'll pay for this, Leah!

PS Love the tidy up you did of your blog. It looks great! Could you give my sister a swift kick in the bottom? She needs to get on this blogging wagon or I am going to get very cross with her. And she doesn't want that!

Ok. Here we go again. You don't need to go to Mexico to learn about Mayans. Just to go Home Depot around 6:30 AM or to a local garden store.

Adrian, I don't understand why you ejected. Was max watching with you? If not, why couldn't you see it?

Are you telling me you wouldn't re-watch the following:
--Passion of the Christ
--Good Fellas
--God Father
--Saving Private Ryan
--Band of Brothers the Series
--Pulp Fiction
--Man on Fire
--Unforgiven (Eastwood)
--James Bond Movies
--Gold Member
--The Spy Who Shagged Me
--Rambo

Wow. Que Lastima..

I thought the Mayans were extinct. No, they are all at Home Depot. Has anyone alerted the anthropologists?

I hate the blood and gore. I close my eyes and Marc has tell give me an all clear before I will look. There are some films I've never seen but have heard.

No, I wouldn't rewatch any of those films you've listed. i would rewatch Bull Durham, Steel Magnolias, Top Gun, The Queen, Somethings Gotta give, Brokeback Mountain. Sex not violence! We are worlds apart, dude.

Yes we are correct LA DAWN, we are very different. But I bet we'd get along just grand if you were here or if we ever meet.

I'd see all of those movies again except for Broke Back and Magnolia's. I actually enjoyed pride and prejudice.

I'm cool with the shoot-em ups as long as you can't see brains or entrails, and as long as the items being massacred are adults. So Bond is okay at this point, the rest not so much.

This stuff didn't bother me as much before Max...now every fictional kid getting his head blown off or arm whacked away by a machete is someone's baby, like mine. Hearing about non-fictional kid violence on the news is 100 times worse.

Madonna said, "When I became a mother, I became responsible for all children." That sentiment is 100 percent accurate.

GrandDaddy,
I guess any movie that shows impacting a child in a negative manner is out.

So your movie list is already on my TIVO. However, anything hurts kids is out. I know it is a stork in the sand approach to life. But, when it comes to baby h, the longer he dreams of sugar plums and kittens the better. He will learn about life can be tough sometimes. But not right now...

We don't have any violent content on the TV during Max's waking hours. Our movie watching happens after his bedtime.

I have a question for everyone:
If you oppose violence against childred, are you pro-life or pro-abortion (pro-choice).

When is a child a child? Conception? First trimester? Second? Third or after birth?

Hell Joe, my husband is 32 and he's still a child....

LA, I can't really argue with that one. I consider myself a child somedays too.

But I think that's more of a maturity thing and doesn't fit the definition of child.

Leah, speaking of Child. Can you go ahead and forward the pics I sent you of Baby Jo to LaDawn. I want her to put a face with the name, its only fair since I've seen her family. I'll also forward you and PT the Sopranos Picture to send to LaDawn.
