September update

Gosh, I hope in the near future I will be able to post more than just monthly updates. Maybe I will be able to fit in another before October rolls around.

With the new business, our lives have pretty much revolved around Greeley and CBW since July. For shame, but I haven't even found time to be gracious and send thank-you notes to all the friends/family that honored us by giving Max a gift for his 1st birthday. Also, I believe we missed Baby Joey's 1st birthday as well. We suck.... We will try to do better. We do love and think of everyone though.

Max is doing great. He's either running, climbing the furniture, rifling through the kitchen cabinets (containing pots and plastic), ordering us around or sleeping. It is good to be Max.

Any desire for political sparring and controversial discussion-making has been more than beaten out of me by the daily grind of dealing with the antics of employees, customers and partners. The dogs are the easiest, and most pleasant, part of the business by a large margin. Woof, woof.

Having said that, my absolute belief that GWB has his head up his arse is unwaivering. At last count of hands, only 30 percent of Americans disagree with me. I usually can't bear to watch the news or read the paper anymore because the war is so depressing. Worse than Vietnam because this "enemy" isn't even defineable...it's not the organized communists with an army; it is a bunch of religious whackos running around with guns, swords and explosives. But, all that is analyzed ad-nausem by the media, politicians and pundits. No need to rehash the insanity here. There seems to be no answer to the problem. We will be like the Soviets in Afganistan during the 80s. (Oh yeah, we really ARE like them because we are bogged down in that country as well.) So much to look forward to in the world.

Otherwise, it is turning into a beautiful autumn in Colorado. The leaves are starting to turn, the zuchinis in my garden are enormous and the tomatoes are still going wild. My mom's garden produced so much basil (she planted 10 plants) that she has been able to make several quarts of homemade pesto that she freezes. Last year we enjoyed it throughout the winter and look forward to again this year.

I'm going to Stephanie's book club meeting Thursday evening. I haven't read the book, but will get the Cliff Notes. Mostly, it will be fun to go to the meeting. I haven't done much with friends/family lately. Also, I will be doing Steph's raku pottery class on Sunday. It was SOOO much fun last year.

Glad to have you back! Wish you could send some pesto my way. The rain completely ruined our garden. We;ve got a couple pumpkins and a couple butternut squash but tomatoes, chiles, & peppers were ruined by blight!

It's been quiet not having Joe around. I think he got bored with us! One can only argue for so long that GWB is an idiot.

Oh goody you are back, I just checked by chance. Let me think about what you said... hmmm...

On a lite note, I have a slight cold this week. I reminded myself of my comical post to LA a few weeks back and had a good chuckle.

I am glad the biz is doing well, and am really happy for you guys. Hopefully you achieve the independence you are looking for very soon!

Give max a kiss for me, I can't wait to see him this winter. by the way, where are the pics? Haven't gotten any in a while, I plan to send you guys video of Baby Joe.

Now for the fun stuff.....
LA, I am not bored with you I was bored with your vacation pics, and Leah I had nothing to come back to. But both of you are back on the list of sites to visit and I am very happy about that.

I am also a busy person. I spent last week in Cleveland for Baby Jo's first birthday party.

Leah, not sure if Adrian told you but I also got a promotion? I am moving into a global director role, meaning I'll have my job but it will include Asia (Yes), India (lots of slavery there LA), North America, Latin America and you guessed it I will also have Europe. Yes!!! I will be visiting Basingstoke in the very near future and will be spending a lot of time. Perhaps you could invite me to dinner while out there LA?

We all know what this means, since I got a promo and more money and my wife and I are moving back to Chi in Jan (So Leah, you and adrian better make it down here before the end of the year... pretty pretty please) that some poor other schlup somewhere is getting less money at my expense (not).

Let's not even discuss how moving all my stuff 1200 miles north will contribute to the global warming myth / religion that both of you believe in sooooo much (which by the way, 50% of scientists polled says it is not a foregone conclusion that man causes it).

As for your GWB comments, I'll put a separate post on that. I concede, Iraq could have gone smoother, but a quagmire it is not. You lefties just want us to lose there, and pulling out would would accomplish that, just to say I told you so. I hope you are wrong, otherwise how is your Farsi? You thinks things are sooooo bad out there, but it would really be bad if the temperature of the planet rose about 20,000 degrees because of Iran nuking us, Europe, and Israel.

By the way, the you see the un published study that said, despite what people think, the outlook for the world over the next 20 years is more peace and prosperity than ever before. I can send you a link to it if you want.

Again, I am so gald you are back..I feel so much better....

I am also pretty mad @ GWB, but not for the same reasons as you and LA. Agree with him or not, I'd never call the pres an idiot (nor would I call Kerry or Clinton the same)

I am mad because he is too lenient on illegal immigration.

I am mad because he didn't do what it took to win the war in iraq quickly enough, finally he took the gloves off with the surge (and it is working by the way). I am glad you referenced vietnam...

Ahhhh... Vietnam, the glory days of the democrat party. Pulled the US out of war which resulted in the deaths of millions of people in cambodia and vietnam. Those who were not killed went to re-education camps. By the way, John Kerry says the re-education camps were not so bad...hmmmmm...

Yes, the approval of the handling of the war is down to 30%. Unfortunately, the approval rate for the democratic congress is down to 11%. I'll take the 30. By the way, there was a ny times poll that showed that the majority of americans disapprove of the war, because we were not fighting to win (not because we are there). Why doesn't congress just defund the war if the majority of americans say get out? There is a dem majority in congress, but Nancy Pelosi will not do that unless she has 70 GOP votes so she can claim bi-partisanship and pin a "loss" on GWB. The majority of american's may not approve of the way its faught, but hate one thing even more. And that's losing (refer to my individualism post from months back)!

I am so sorry to hear the war depresses you...Imagine what a soldier feels like, like my sister. She's been there and is now stationed in Forthood and her entire job is dedicated to preparing soldiers to go to war.

By the way, how are you actually affected by it.. the answer is you are probably not...you are affected by the constant negative drumbeat of whatever it is you watch. A car bomb gets more attention than an entire city being secured...Remember, our army is all volunteer and their orientation involves a M16.

Fact is, everything bad that happens on the planet is GWB's fault. The minessota bridge collaps, Katrina, the guy who was tasered recently at a kerry speech, global warming, the first 9/11 attack, earth quakes and tsunamis. Remember this, our soldiers are stationed in a combat zone and we lost approximately 3700. We lost more soldiers in clinton's last term due to accidents, than we have lost in combat in Iraq. We lost more soldiers on June 6th, 1944 than we lost in the entire iraq war. Why does the left in this country body count our soldiers and doesn't body count the enemy?

Finally, what I do to feel better is I actually adopt a soldier. Its a great way to get involved. Go to http://www.operationac.com Select "Adopt a service member. And you contact a soldier or marine and help their morale by sending them goodies. Our most recent adoptee was SFC John Williams. He really appreciated our support.

Finally, fall in Colorado must be beautiful this time of year. I really wish I was there, I could use a couple of more days off.

Leah, please e-mail me when you post something. I regret to inform you that I have un-bookmarked Casa Herrera.

I thought I'd never utter such words. After all, you hooked me on this stuff...

Remember the good times? Posts about March Madness, Max's Turds and him crawling, tree huggers (one of my favorites) and movie night, Max's first haircut and who could forget the controversial "Investing in Kids" post and our "individualism" debate that stephanie bowed out of.

Since I tried calling and e-mailing, I thought I'd post.

Neither of you have returned my calls or e-mails, and basically ruined Thanksgiving plans. Adrian, you promised me you'd be down to South Florida for Thanksgiving. I went as far as telling my wife's sister she couldn't come down because you, leah and max were (remember that conversation).

Now, no one is coming down. I am ok and understand that you guys can't make it, but what I am not ok with is you not calling to tell me what the u r not.

I have to admit I still visit. Only out of morbid curiosity however...and after I've re-arranged my socks and picked my nose.

What's the new movie with Will Smith where he is the last man on the planet? That's what I feel like when I visit Casa Herrera.

By the way Adrian, we had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for asking. The three of us went to the beach, as we planned to take you with us. Was beautiful, 82 and Sunny water was great. We had bought little max his own beach pale and shovel that matched little Joe's. Why, you may be asking? Well we actually purchased it two months ago at the pool store. We also went down to Biscayne Bay, we didn't do the cruise we would have taken you on, but the food was great! We also skipped the everglades tour we would have taken you on.

Boy, I can't wait til New Year's!

To those who still come here, which is no one, let's have a contest. We throw in $5 per. The person who has the last post before Adrian and Leah finally shut down Casaherrera wins the pot?

What do you think? Will anyone answer?

I do believe Casa Herrera is dead.
